Are you between the ages of 14 and 21, living in Frederick County and looking for a part-time summer job? The 2024 Summer Jobs Program may be perfect for you! You can earn a paycheck, learn valuable new skills, and get job experience for your resume!
The dates of employment for the 2024 program are July 1- August 2. Youth will work at their assigned worksites Monday - Friday, up to 25 hours per week, depending on the schedule offered by the worksite. Youth will earn minimum wage, $15 per hour. There will be opportunities to work in person and remotely. Prior to starting work, participants will participate in job readiness training, and those concepts will be reinforced throughout the program. Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements listed below.
Eligibility
Participants must be Frederick County residents between the ages of 14 and 21 who are authorized to work in the United States. Space is limited, priority may be given to individuals with one (or more) of the following barriers to employment, and those who have not previously participated in this program:
Low-income family status
Possessing one or more disabilities
Receiving assistance from Social Services
Enrolled in the Foster Care system
Connected with the juvenile justice system
Participating in Special Education or Directed-level classes
Examples of Possible Positions

Administrative Assistant
Custodial Assistant
Retail Assistant
Farm & Nursery Helper
and many more!
Application Process
Applications for the 2024 Summer Youth Programs will be completed ONLINE. The steps for applying are as follows:
Step 1: Complete an online application (will close on April 21, 2024)
Step 2: Within 5-7 business days after submitting your online application, you will receive an email from FCWS staff confirming that we have received your application and verifying your eligibility for the program. We may request additional documentation to confirm your eligibility. Submission of any requested documentation by the specified deadline is necessary to remain eligible to participate!
Step 3: Final acceptance decisions will be sent via email no later than May 6, 2024
Step 4: Attend Ready, Set, Work, a training workshop PRIOR to interviews – this is mandatory! After the application process has closed, you will receive an email invitation to schedule your training.
Step 5: Interview with a Summer Jobs Worksite!
Note: Completing the above process does NOT guarantee a summer job. In the event of limited funding, priority will be given to youth who have not previously participated in this program.
