Program Overview

FOSTERING RECOVERY THROUGH WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT 

Resilient Frederick County (RFC) is a workforce development program that provides one-on-one services for individuals impacted by substance use disorder to grow their workplace skills and reduce barriers to employment. Additional support is provided by our Peer Recovery Specialist and Peer Supervisor.

RFC also supports businesses in recruiting and retaining a viable workforce, including the SUD recovery community. Additional support is available for businesses to become a Recovery is Good Business Partner and create a recovery-friendly workplace.

One-On-One Services Overview

Registered participants are partnered with a career specialist to build a goal-oriented career plan and connect with career reboot resources, career training opportunities/funding, and job search tools. Our career specialists help participants navigate the job search process and provide the following resources so you can be successful in reconnecting to work.

  • Career exploration and skill assessment 

  • Targeted job search help: resume review, online applications, interview prep, and more 

  • Funding opportunities for career training and continuing education* 

  • Paid on-the-job training and transitional work experiences* 

  • Work Readiness sessions addressing common stressors connected to working and managing recovery

  • Occupational Wellness planning and resource navigation guided by a Peer Recovery Specialist

  • Funding opportunities for supportive services to assist while working toward employment and training goals* (e.g.: transportation, work attire, technology, etc.)

Who Qualifies for Resilient Frederick County One-on-One Services?

Individuals impacted by substance use disorder who need additional assistance connecting to meaningful employment and/or career training, such as:

  • Individuals in recovery (with at least 3 months of sobriety)

  • Friends or family members who have been impacted by substance use disorder

  • Individuals looking to enter Behavioral Health occupations

General Eligibility Requirements

 
  • Frederick County Resident

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Authorized to work in the United States

  • Males: Registered for Selective Services (if born after 12/31/59)

Register to attend an in-person Get Connected workshop to learn more about the Resilient Frederick County program and complete the intake process. Get Connected workshops run every Wednesday from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm located at the American Job Center, 200 Monroe Avenue, Suite 1, Frederick, MD 21701.
