Fall 2023 Listening Tour Summary
Construction/Trades
Frederick County thrives on a vibrant Construction/Trades sector, which plays a pivotal role in our local economy by not only generating employment opportunities but also fostering long-term careers for our residents. The collaboration between our local Construction and Trades industry and community partners, including residents, businesses, government agencies, and community organizations, is instrumental in collectively investing in the future of our area. Recognizing the nationwide challenge of recruiting and retaining skilled workers, we embarked on a comprehensive exploration of these issues through direct engagement with businesses. Frederick County Workforce Services conducted a Listening Tour dedicated to the Construction/Trades industry, engaging with over 30 local businesses of various sizes, specialties, and locations across the county. The discussions centered on key themes such as Recruitment Strategies, Workforce Challenges, Skill Requirements, and Future Outlooks. The insights gathered during these conversations will inform the development of tailored programs aimed at bridging the gap between talent and local businesses, thereby contributing to the economic growth of Frederick County.
